✦In His Own Words
Told by Dr. Nityanandaji
In 1998 Sri Kaleshwar asked me to make them. He chose the size, the weight, and the metals: one ounce each, in silver or gold. When I showed him the first test, struck on one side only, he told me to put his image on the back. From his instruction to the minting in Nevada City, California, I handled them myself.
On Guru Purnima 1999, at Penukonda, before he took yoga samadhi, he gave me permission to lay them next to him while his soul traveled. He gestured where: on the bed, at the right side of his abdomen. I was the physician taking care of his body.
Before he left, he told us: “When I’m going to take off, my soul energy is coming to everybody to give blessing then taking off.”
While in samadhi, he asked the Mother to give “the permission who is linked to my soul they can easily handle the negativity.” The night he came back, he gave us one line: Om Maha Papa Prakshalana Sai Shakti Raksha.
A week after the samadhi he taught: “But coming through the master’s hand, if the master held it and gave it to you, it’s a good hook to wearing around your neck.”
He priced them himself and sold them as a benefit for the ashram. Sixty-one were never sold. At his instruction I brought them home to the United States, where they rested on my altar, forgotten, for twenty-seven years. This year they came back to us.
Every remaining relic is now offered, and only here: with the full nine nights of Navaratri and Vijayadasami. Each is numbered, on its own card of provenance, with the line he gave the night he returned.
