Charitable Programs
HELPING, SHARING & CARING BY SERVING LOCAL & GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Bringing love and healing to the globe begins with each of us. Seva, selfless service, is at the heart of our tradition of engagement with the world. We believe it is everyone’s duty to create a better world. With so many people suffering around the globe, we need to create happiness as much and as often as we can wherever we are. Feeding the hungry, uplifting the hopeless, helping solve a problem are all forms of enlightenment and ways to be a messenger of love to the world.
As a Center, we serve our local community by providing financial and volunteer support to charities serving the homeless, the hungry and families and children living in poverty in Mendocino County, California. Our charitable activities are made possible by the generous support of donors around the world.
We are deeply grateful for our global community of donors and members, practicing pure love principles and helping make our work possible.
Weekly Meals & Essential Items For The Homeless
Once a week, we use local, organically grown vegetables to make a hearty, protein balanced meal for Willits Daily Bread, a local soup kitchen in Mendocino, California, serving the homeless. We also provide durable blankets and warm socks that are given to anyone coming to Willits Daily Bread, and seasonally donate fresh vegetables to Willits Daily Bread for additional meals.
Supporting Local Charities
We have partnered with Laytonville Healthy Start for more than a decade with monthly financial support for their free meal and senior lunch programs, providing essential diapering and infant care supplies for mothers and families. We also provide regular monthly financial donations to the Laytonville, Fort Bragg, and Leggett Food Banks in Mendocino County to help them stock their shelves with milk, bread, and other staple food items.
Annual Christmas Baskets Program
Every year we help families in need have a hearty, healthy holiday meal with a personalized Christmas basket. Each basket is lovingly packed with the family’s choice of a turkey or vegetarian main dish and fresh sweet potatoes, onions, celery, apples, milk, bread, eggs, butter, stuffing mix, canned vegetables, cookies, hot chocolate mix, pumpkin pie, plus small gifts for children. In Willits, homebound families and those with mobility issues have had their baskets delivered. Our annual Christmas Baskets Program began in 2006 in partnership with Healthy Start.
Supporting Our Local Volunteer Fire Department
As our climate is changing, fire prevention and protection is an essential need and concern for many throughout the world, especially in Northern California. We provide regular financial donations to the Laytonville Volunteer Fire Department and the Bell Springs Road Fire Department. Divine Mother Center staff have also served as volunteers for the fire brigades.
Community Building
In addition to our online programs with the Divine Mother School and Virtual Ashram, we provide training, coaching and support for teachers, soul healers, and spiritual communities in the USA and around the globe who are practicing and helping bring the Divine Mother’s palm leaf knowledge to promote lasting healing, peace, and love throughout the world. All of our virtual Sacred Fire Ceremonies and Holy Baths (Abisheks) are uniting people around the world through free online broadcasts to receive and create vibrations for peace, healing, and happiness in our local and global communities.
Community Bhajans
The Divine Mother Center’s ‘Baba’s Bhajan Band’ gives live concerts to bring healing and uplift community members and the underprivileged of Mendocino County, California. (During the COVID-19 pandemic the bhajan concerts are suspended for everyone’s safety.)
