Varalakshmi Vratham is a Hindu festival celebrated primarily by married women in South India and emphasizes the importance of women in the household and their role as bearers of good fortune and prosperity. It is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. “Vara” means “boon,” and Vara Lakshmi is the form of Mother Lakshmi that fulfills our desires and grants affluence, fertility, power, and wealth. This festival is observed on the Friday before the full moon in the month of Shravana (usually in August) in the Hindu calendar.
