The Call to Release Attachments and Self-Doubt

“The number one good quality, what you have to develop, is forgiveness. That is the number one healing with your heart and your soul. It is very important to forgive yourself.”

When we talk about letting go on the spiritual path, we’re talking about loosening the grip of old patterns, fears, and the lingering sense of “not being good enough.” By releasing these attachments—especially self-doubt—we create a new space for transformation to happen within our hearts.

“Then, you will get inner satisfaction. After you get inner satisfaction, shanti, then you will start to recognize the real satya. … Then, you can start to surrender. It is not that easy to surrender. You cannot surrender that easily. That is human psychology.”

Sri Kaleshwar’s teachings (1) remind us that letting go involves a series of transmutations: from emotional pain to inner peace, from resistance to acceptance, from confusion to knowing, and from suffering to bliss.

Forgiveness as Emotional Purification

Forgiveness is a powerful practice of self-healing, a sacred river that washes away the suffering burdens of resentment. When we hold onto anger or guilt, we weigh ourselves down with self-created negativity. By practicing genuine forgiveness—beginning with ourselves—we enter into a process of emotional purification. This is a self-healing that opens the door for deeper heart chakra awakening, a sign of lasting self-realization.

“A master needs true love; same time, he needs supernatural abilities. That true love automatically develops when you surrender and give up all your crazy things.”

Surrendering ego-attachments, pride and self-doubt which all block our capacity to forgive is a spiritual magic. The practice of forgiveness uncovers a new deeper kind of love for self and the world which we all hold hidden inside. Embodying this love naturally uplifts our lives and the lives of everyone around us.

Surrender to Old Illusions Dissolving: Merging into Shiva’s Energy

“There is only one guarantee. Surrendering. Simply surrendering—be faithful to yourself, be faithful to God, be faithful to your duty.”

Shivaratri carries the energy of cosmic dissolution, a time when Shiva’s presence helps destroy illusions and ego boundaries. These illusions are the internal walls of belief, story, inner dialogue and habits that keep us blindly repeating the same karmic cycles.

The act of surrender—especially on an auspicious night like Shivaratri—is a doorway to becoming free of these illusions, leading us toward an expansive state where the individual ego dissolves into a broader cosmic awareness of presence and power.

Embracing Shiva’s Power: From Testing to Transformation

No lesson in letting go can be experienced without acknowledging the cosmic force that alone has the power to nullify death itself: Shiva.

“There’s only one person on the planet who can win death and make it stop. That is Shiva.”

This is not just referring to just physical mortality; Shiva energy is integral to the little “deaths” we face—our hesitations, the fear of change, and the anxiety of losing control. When we devote our energies to chanting, meditating, or performing rituals aligned with Shiva’s cosmic vibrations and message of forgiveness and surrender, we can truly release self-doubt.

Japa, yagyams, and spiritual processes remove karmas, negativities and illusions around the soul to know who we really are.”

Through consistent inner work, these practices dissolve our hardwired mind patterns and subtle ego attachments and allow the dawning of a profound sense of spiritual connection.

Final Thoughts

``Wherever you keep giving love, automatically you’ll start forgiving. Don’t expect love back. Just keep giving it. Keep giving it. Then you will see your life, how within six months, the graph has really changed tremendously”

Shivaratri’s opportunity each year is to discover greater unconditional love within. We must let go of everything that is not in harmony with forgiveness and kindness. With practice, each day is a step into deeper ego-surrender—emptied of attachments, cleansed of self-doubt—revealing the secret depth of our capacity for compassion. This in turn creates an stronger faith in the divine energy channels that are always available to flow into the world through our lives. In this way, the art of forgiveness and letting go becomes a key to progress on the seekers path to live from a stable inner peace, creative purpose, daily satisfaction, and true self-realization.
